Pizza Night

In the Rozmaryn family, every Thursday night is pizza night. Yes, Nuthouse pizza is our place of choice, but it's not always fesable to travel 45 minutes (after a full day of work with these two crazies in the car) to join the rest of the clan there. So we sometimes go to our local place and bring home, and this particular Thursday, me and the two boys made our own.

Eitan is an excellent kitchen helper. He loves standing on the chair by the island and doing little jobs, and when I take pictures while cooking you lucky readers get to see our gorgeous modern kitchen. Seriously, I can't wait to take a sledgehammer to this whole room one day. Yellow Cabinets? Yellow FRIDGE? Floral wallpaper? Formica Counters? Seriously?

Chowing down:

I love this picture below that Eitan took (he's getting better with the camera!). Levs' is making the funniest face, gripping his corn like it's going out of style and looks like such a Kirschenbaum  here it's not even normal.

This.

Potty training 2013 edition. God help us. And Eitan.

The Aquarium AKA Screened in Porch

Walking into our house for the first time when we looked at it this amazing room was the first thing that drew our eyes in. Along the back of the house, next to the living and dining rooms is an amazing screened in porch with a wall of sliding doors.

And since the move, we have used this room constantly. It's a way to be outside without bugs and with permanent shade! We have bigger plans for this room, namely adding ceiling fans, twinkle lights, painting the concrete floor so it feels more home-y, even maybe painting the ceiling a soft blue, adding some art maybe on the wall above the sofa, but for now, we just are enjoying it. I love being out there enjoying the view onto our amazing backyard. It feels like you're in the country.

Ami named it "the aquarium" and it's caught on. It's the first place he'll go when watching the kids by himself. For some reason things are just better out there. Maybe it's the fresh air, I don't know, but Eitan can play with his little grill and scooter, and Levs just is thrilled to climb into and out of the half step to the room. See below, really, he'll do this for a long time!

The owners of the house left us the picnic table and benches, my mom brought over  the wicker dresser, I bought Ami the plants for his birthday that sit on it, and the couch and chairs were a sweet craigslist deal ($75 for the set-unreal). We need to replace the cushions, but that's been demoted to a 2014 project.

I love Eitan's serious little face in the picture above. He's chowing down on a yogurt popsicle, hey throwback old blog post from last summer. PS Can you believe that Eitan was that little only a year ago? This sassy boy is almost three!

Here's the two in action:

Playpen

Sometimes when I'm home alone with both kiddos I need to do something that I can't have them getting into. For example, if I'm making pasta, the idea of moving the pot of boiling hot water from the range to the sink freaks me out. So, like any good mom, I invested in a playpen. And by playpen I mean putting them into the empty bath with their bath toys that they love. The tub in their bathroom is super deep and for a few minutes they find it quite novel.

Here are some shots I got after draining the pasta...And yes, I know it's only a matter of time before Eitan can jump out, but for now, it works.

Eitan's Room

Okay, room number 2 in the house, done (mostly, we still have to hang the new ceiling lamp), and again it goes to someone who couldn't care less. But Eitan really does love his big boy room.

Here's his little coloring table, with a DIY corkboard. It was a framed poster that didn't really "go" here. I spray painted the frame white, got rid of the glass, and got cork tiles that I covered with fabric that used to be Eitan's curtains in the old condo. Up on it are some fun projects he made at camp cupcake.

And you may remember that the table was a thrift store find ($4.99 baby!) that I sanded and painted navy.

And a growth chart decal to measure how big he's getting.

Little nook of artwork including his first little shoe framed in the center.

Eitan loves loves loves his big boy bed- the headboard was left by our previous owners and I had a whole drama painting it navy. Note to self, never use spray paint again. You think it's at short cut because you don't need paintbrushes and it's quick, but it never works out, always looks splotchy, you will need to sand down parts that bubble, ad then give in and paint it with normal regular paint.

Levs LOVES this little nightsand. He props himself up on it and pulls everything down. Fun for the whole family. Also terrifies me that he is going to pull it down onto himself one day. We need to affix this puppy to the wall asap.

Okay, that's a wrap. Eitan's room!

9 months on the 9th!

On Friday little Levs turned 9 months. 9 months on the 9th! Hooray for the babe!

As we did with Eitan every month on his "birthday day" we take a picture of him. With Eitan it was on the rocking chair in his room, always wearing a white onesie, and for Levs (to prove that we're JUST AS INTO HIM EVEN THOUGH HE'S SECOND) we have him posing on his blanket, each month in a different colored onesie.

Let's just say that this little guys likes to move. A lot. way more then Eitan did. Making this project very hard, but we're sticking with it. 9 months down, three to go.

Here's a slice of what it takes to get a semi good shot of him semi looking at the camera.

And the assistant gets in on the mayhem...

Happy 9 months Lev Levavi Chanani. We love you!

Last Week of Camp!

Eitan's last day at Camp is this Friday! It's absolutely unreal that this is one sign that the summer is over, but also that means it's been six weeks since we moved- his first day of camp was the day after moving.

There are two weeks and two (week) days between the end of camp and the beginning of school on August 27th where Eitan will be hanging out with mister Levav and super nanny Amanda. We'll be making lots of playdates!

Thankfully two of his buddies from camp are going to his preschool with him, so that should be an easy transition.

Here's the latest batch of pictures that the "morahs" sent over. Last week they also included some "portraits" of the little fellas. So so so cute!

And if you want to go crazy thinking how quickly this year has gone by, take a peek at this post about Ami's 30th: http://rozmarynramblings.blogspot.com/2012/08/blogging-our-birthdays.html.

DIY Mezuzahs

What do you get when you are sent to Home Depot for two feet of copper pipe, 8 pipe caps and some wiring?

Ummm. If you guessed 4 mezuzah cases, you are...a liar.

But, Ami Rozmaryn, creative of all creatives managed to turn these raw materials into something beautiful. I of course was about to order the basic $4.99 cases for the million new mezuzahs we'd purchased, but Ami wanted to craft something himself. My first idea was to have some test tubes attached to the door posts some how, because it's kind of cool to get to see the actual scroll of the mezuzah, but since we don't have a lab supply store nearby and definitely DO have a Home Depot, the copper stuff took the prize.

Here's the plan. Does this make no sense to everyone else? Good. We're the same.

And considering our copper-ish colored kitchen hood and banisters, it really "goes" with the house. Except the spots where all those new cases are are not near either of those features so it's really something for us just to know rather then something you can really notice...

Either way, they look great and took only a couple hours for Ami to put together. Well done. And pats on the back to us for getting all 14 (I think that was the number) of our doorways outfitted with mezuzahs within a month of moving in.

It's a shame that instead of snapping away while he was in production mode, I was kid-wrangling, so I didn't get any "during" shots, but a good after, that's the money shot.
