What do you get when you are sent to Home Depot for two feet of copper pipe, 8 pipe caps and some wiring?
Ummm. If you guessed 4 mezuzah cases, you are...a liar.
But, Ami Rozmaryn, creative of all creatives managed to turn these raw materials into something beautiful. I of course was about to order the basic $4.99 cases for the million new mezuzahs we'd purchased, but Ami wanted to craft something himself. My first idea was to have some test tubes attached to the door posts some how, because it's kind of cool to get to see the actual scroll of the mezuzah, but since we don't have a lab supply store nearby and definitely DO have a Home Depot, the copper stuff took the prize.
Here's the plan. Does this make no sense to everyone else? Good. We're the same.
And considering our copper-ish colored kitchen hood and banisters, it really "goes" with the house. Except the spots where all those new cases are are not near either of those features so it's really something for us just to know rather then something you can really notice...
Either way, they look great and took only a couple hours for Ami to put together. Well done. And pats on the back to us for getting all 14 (I think that was the number) of our doorways outfitted with mezuzahs within a month of moving in.
It's a shame that instead of snapping away while he was in production mode, I was kid-wrangling, so I didn't get any "during" shots, but a good after, that's the money shot.
